Chef, Host, Husband and Father: Joe Leone


Joseph Leone Introna, (Joe Leone) was born in August of 1975 in Weehawken, NJ.  He divided his time as a child living with his mother during the week, and with his father and paternal grandparents on the weekends.  His grandparents, Pasquale and Vincenza Introna, immigrated to the United States from Molfetta, Italy.  It was with his grandparents that Joe Leone realized his affinity for cooking and developed a passion for the art of bread baking.


Joe attended the Ocean County Vocational/ Technical School’s Culinary Arts Program.  He was then accepted into the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York where he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor Degree in Culinary Arts.


Following his graduation, Joe interned and worked for the Marriott Marquis in New York & Jon Anthony’s in Brielle, New Jersey before opening Joe Leone’s Italian Specialty Foods in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, on June 2nd, 1997. The original location remains in Point Pleasant Beach, and a satellite store, Joe Leone’s Gastronomia, opened in Sea Girt, NJ on June 9th, 2008.   Joe Leone’s has also grown to encompass an award winning off-premise catering operation based in Point Pleasant Beach, which has been heralded as the premier caterer in the Jersey Shore area and named the Best Caterers’ of Ocean-Monmouth Counties by The Asbury Park Press for 9 consecutive years, as well as a wholesale bakery which provides local restaurants and eateries with baked breads daily.


In February 2012, Joe joined the team of air personalities and launched a ½ hour long show cooking show, “What’s For Dinner?™” with Barbara Farragher.  The show airs on Sunday mornings at 8am.


Joe Leone has been happily married to his bride, Jennifer since 1999.  He is a devoted father to his four children, Joseph Jr., 12; Bella Rose, 11, Luciano, 3, and Antonina, 17 months.  Joe Leone is an avid sports fan.
