The Chris Herren Story

Southern Regional High School will be hosting "Rebound: The Chris Herren Story" on Thursday, January 29th at 6:30pm in the 11/12 gymnasium. Chris Herren (former NBA/NCAA Basketball star) initiated this project as a part of a non-profit foundation called The Herren Project, dedicated to providing treatment, educational and mentoring programs to those touched by addition and to educate people of all ages on the dangers of substance abuse.

Cinderella’s Closet of Monmouth County annual Prom Fashion Show

Cinderella’s Closet of Monmouth County will host their 8th annual Prom Fashion Show at Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune on Friday, January 30th from 7 to 10pm. Area high school students will add their own original prom designs to the runway to help Cinderella’s Closet ensure that no student has to forfeit the lifelong memories of attending prom due to financial hardship. Annual Super “Plunge” Sunday

The 11th annual Super “Plunge” Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, February 1st at 1pm. Participants are invited to brave the icy, cold Atlantic Ocean, and will have plenty of time to be home for the big game. Super Plunge XI, a fundraiser organized by St. Francis Community Center and the Swim Teams of Southern Regional High School, will take place at the 48th Street Beach in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township.

Pre-registration is required. Registration will take place in the Senior Lounge at the Community Center on Saturday, January 31st from 9am to 1pm and on Sunday, February 1st from 10am to 12pm. Registration forms can be picked up in advance at the front desk of the Community Center.

The fee is $30 per person on or before January 30th and $35 after January 30th.

The student registration fee is only $15 on or before January 30th and $20 after January 30th.

Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee.

Valentine’s Day Fundraiser to Support Health Care Services

OHI (Ocean Health Initiatives), a Ocean County federally qualified health center and 501 (c)(3), is hosting Casino Night, its annual Valentine's Day Fundraiser, with dinner, dancing and a silent auction, Friday, February 13th from 6 to 11pm at The Mill at Spring Lake Heights, 101 Old Mill Road, Spring Lake Heights. Tickets are $125 each, and include an open bar and hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Sponsorships ranging from $200 to $2500; donations; journal ads; items for the gift auction and premium ticket packages are available and are 100 percent tax deductible, excluding the cost of the dinner.

The proceeds will be used to support OHI’s continuing mission of providing high quality primary and preventative care services in its multi-specialty practice and enhance the medical care services to children, adults and seniors of Ocean County, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.

Southern Regional Theatre Company presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

The Southern Regional Theatre Company will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in the Joseph P. Echle Performing Arts Center in the 9/10 building of the high school. The production opens Wednesday, February 25th and will run for four nights, with the final performance on Saturday, February 28th. All shows are at 7pm. The six hour fundraiser will also feature performances from Jersey Shore icons, The Mangos, Timepiece, Ned Ryerson and his new band The Groundhogs, plus other special guests, and will include an all you can eat BBQ buffet, outside tent party, cash bar, coffee, soft drinks, dessert, games, prizes, giveaways and much more for the entire family.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 30th from 1 to 7pm at the Idle Hour Restaurant & Bar, located at 2600 Route 88 in Point Pleasant Borough.
