Angels for Animals Educational Fundraiser

Angels for Animals will be holding their 1st Educational Fundraiser on Saturday, October 4th at the Manchester Firehouse, 545 Commonwealth Blvd., Toms River. Their mission is to help strengthen the voices that help protect animals by raising awareness regarding animal abuse and educate others on what they can do to help. All proceeds will provide funds to three local animal rescue groups/organizations. These three groups include The Animal Protection League, Homeless Animal Lifeline and Puppy Love Pet Rescue.

If you are interested in donating, you can contact one of the group members below and we will gladly schedule a pick up of your donation. Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small.

Purr'n Pooch Foundation for Animals annual 5K Canine Classic Run/Walk

The Purr'n Pooch Foundation for Animals will hold its 4th annual 5K Canine Classic Run/Walk to benefit animal charity on Saturday, October 4th. The race begins at 8am seaside at Pier Village, 1 Chelsea Ave., Long Branch. All are welcome to attend and dogs are required to run or walk on leash. One dog per handler/runner is requested. Pre-register at www.purrnpoochfoundation.org.

Race shirts will be given to all pre-registered two-legged participants and are subject to availability for same day registrants. Cost is $30 per pre-registered adult, $35 on race day, and dogs walk or run for free. Race is rain or shine.

Beachwood 5k River Run & 1 Mile Fun Run

The 3rd annual Beachwood 5k River Run & 1 Mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday, October 4th (rain or shine) at 9am, presented by the Beachwood Recreation Commission. Register today at www.jerseyrunner.com. Course runs along the scenic Toms River in Beachwood. The race starts and ends on the waterfront and winds past parks, waterfront homes, the Yacht Club, Marina, and War Memorial.

Race Times: One Mile Fun Run: 9am, Beachwood 5K Run: 9:45am.

Howl-O-Ween Parade & Dog Day in the Park

A Howl-O-Ween Parade and Dog Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th starting at 10am at Cattus Island County Park, off Fischer Blvd., Toms River. This free event is sponsored by the Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department. The Dog Day includes information, displays and demonstrations. The day ends with a pet costume parade. The prizes will be for the best dog/owner combo, most original and funniest. Join the free parade or come to watch.

Toms River North Indians 12U & 15U Cheer teams Flapjack Fundraiser

The Toms River North Indians 12U & 15U Cheer teams will be hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser on Sunday, October 5th from 8 to 10am at Applebee's in the Ocean County Mall, located at 1201 Hooper Ave. in Toms River. All proceeds go towards helping the girls with travel and uniform costs for their impending trip to their National Competition.

The Friends of Toms River Library annual Golf Outing

The Friends of Toms River Library will host their 3rd annual Golf Outing on Wednesday, October 8th at Bey Lea Golf Course in Toms River. All proceeds support the Toms River library branch, including the purchase of special equipment and sponsorship of various programs and children’s activities.

The cost to play in the golf outing is $80 for a single golfer, $300 for a foursome and $100 for a hole sponsor.

Cub Scout Pack 30 Popcorn Show and Sell

Help Cub Scout Pack 30 of Citta Elementary School in Toms River to raise money for their big camping trip to the Philadelphia Zoo at ShopRite, 2 Rt. 37 W, Toms River on Saturday, October 11th from 9am to 1pm. A portion will go to Pack 30’s "Save Our Animals" project, which is their theme of the year. Pack 30 will be basing their entire year on what they can do to help save our animals.

They will also be doing separate fundraisers to get a trailer for their overnight camping trips.

With Popcorn Show and Sell sales scouts and their families will stand outside of a store location and ask if anyone would like to purchase popcorn from their pack.

Color Me Belmar - Run for FRA 3K

Join in the fun for the first ever Color Me Belmar - Run for FRA 3K on the beautiful beaches of Belmar on Saturday, October 11th at 10am. Color Me Belmar - Run for FRA 3K is all about colorful fun with friends and family. Participants can walk or run together and all are welcome to participate as long as they have fun and don't take things too seriously. There are no age limits. T-shirts will be provided to those who sign up before 9/10. The run will benefit local children with developmental disabilities served by the non-profit FRA, serving the community for 35 years and offering "PossAbilities for People with disAbilities." A Superstorm named Sandy, tore through the shores of New Jersey on October 29, 2012, but Sandy wasn't the only storm that hit New Jersey. As we follow 1 year in the lives of people recovering from the devastation, we learn that picking up the pieces after the storm is even more difficult than surviving it. They face increasing barriers created by Insurance Companies, Mortgagors, and Governmental Agencies, but through their perseverance and help from fellow citizens and non-profit groups, they show us that hope still exists, even in the midst of a storm.

Strides for Babies New Jersey Timed 5k Run & Family Fun Walk

Join a day of family fun at Strides for Babies New Jersey Timed 5k Run & Family Fun Walk at Thompson Park in Lincroft on Sunday, October 12th.

Strides for Babies NJ is an event where hundreds of families who have been affected by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) will join together to celebrate the lives of their babies that were taken away from them far too soon. Please join us in supporting these families in their efforts to eliminate these tragedies and show your community how much you care.

Long Beach Island Commemorative 18 Mile Run

The 42nd annual Long Beach Island Commemorative 18 Mile Run will take place on Sunday, October 12th at 10:30am in Holgate, the southernmost point of LBI. Participants will run north on Long Beach Blvd. for 18 miles and finish at Barnegat Light State Park. The event is sponsored by St. Francis Community Center, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, in cooperation with the LBI Jewish Community Center.

Applications are now being accepted, and registration will continue until race day. Buses will be provided for registered runners and will begin leaving for the starting line at 8am. Buses will continue to run from the finish line to the Community Center. The finish line closes at 2:15pm. All runners are invited to a recognition luncheon at the Center immediately following the race.

Brick Township Chamber of Commerce Chamberfest

The Brick Township Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual event Chamberfest. The event, which is also their annual meeting with election of the 2015 Board of Directors, will take place at the River Rock Restaurant & Marina Bar at 1600 Route 70 in Brick on Tuesday, October 21st from 5 to 7 and will feature a variety of exciting components. All attendees are encouraged to bring a plentiful supply of business cards. OceanFirst Bank is the corporate sponsor of the event.

In addition to networking and member infomercials, there will be refreshments, prizes and information about the organization’s free advertising programs and other benefits of membership. Adding excitement to the evening will be the drawing of the winner of the $10,000 (based on the sale of 200 tickets) Dream Dollars Raffle. The raffle raises money for scholarships for deserving students.  This year the organization awarded $22,000 for continuing education. Beatlemania Stage Show

Cell Phones for Soldiers

Cell Phones for Soldiers are being collected by Nancy Seibert, along with the Berkeley Twp. Regular Republican Club “Support the Troops Project."

They collect any phone in any condition and send them to a recycler for free 60-minute calling cards for our troops serving overseas.
