Dr. Ron Rotem’s Halloween Candy Buy Back

Dr. Ron Rotem’s 10th annual Halloween Candy Buy Back to support our troops is going to be monsterous. Starting Monday, November 3rd through Tuesday, November 4th, Dr. Ron Rotem will pay $1.00 per pound of candy, up to 10 pounds per family, with a $50.00 gift card to the child who brings in the most candy by weight.

And attention teachers! If your class brings in the most candy by weight, your class can earn a $400.00 donation from Dr. Rotem. Any class of a public or a private school can participate.

Toms River Township Department of Public Works closed Election and Veterans Day

The Toms River Township Department of Public Works will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th and Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th. There will be no sanitation and recycling collections and the Recycling Convenience Center will be closed.

After each holiday, all collections are postponed one day, with Friday’s sanitation collections picked up on Saturday. For additional information, please visit tomsrivertownship.com.

The Friends of the Toms River Library are asking for books, CD’s, and media donations for their Book Sale, scheduled for November 6th thru the 8th. The materials should be in PRISTINE condition. They cannot accept material in poor condition. Textbooks, encyclopedias, old computer books, magazines, abridged or condensed books or phonograph records are all needed. The Diary of Anne Frank

The Southern Regional High School Theatre Company is in production for the annual Fall Play.  This year’s production is The Diary of Anne Frank, a compelling World War II era drama about a family in hiding from the Nazi’s whose young daughter, Anne, kept a diary of their life.

Performances will be Thursday and Friday, November 13th and 14th in the Joseph P. Echle Performing Arts Center in the 9/10 building. Beatlemania Stage Show

St. Francis Community Center Family Support Services is planning the annual Thanksgiving project.

Tuckerton Seaport FREE Dinner

South Jersey needs a little Christmas, and Tuckerton Seaport, in partnership with the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and 100.1 WJRZ invites all local families, regardless of need, to come together to enjoy a free meal and give thanks on Saturday, November 30th from noon to 4pm at the Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum, 120 West Main Street (Route 9) in Tuckerton.

This community meal will be hosted on the Seaport’s grounds under a huge heated tent. Enjoy entertainment and plenty of family activities, including make-and-take crafts perfect for the holidays. This community event and activities will be offered at no cost.

The community meal at the Seaport will feature a Giving Tree, where guests can spread a little holiday cheer by selecting a local family and buying them holiday gifts.  If you know of a family in Southern Ocean County who is in need, please let us know so we can find them a Secret Santa. Santa’s Little Helpers will have until the second weekend in December to drop off their gifts.

Friends of the Toms River Library Bus Trip to "Cape May Christmas"

The Friends of the Toms River Library will host a bus trip to "Cape May Christmas" on Tuesday December 9th.

The trip includes a three-course luncheon and a tour of The Southern Mansion, Cape May’s largest Bed and Breakfast. There will be plenty of free time to spend at The Washington Street Mall, Cape May’s popular shopping area. There will also be a Holly Trolley tour of the holiday lights and decorations of this historic city.

Downtown Toms River presents the 11th annual “Deck the Halls” Holiday Decorating Contest, sponsored by 100.1 WJRZ. District residents are invited to decorate the exterior of their homes with colorful lights, wreaths, scenery and other decorative ornaments. Home must be located within the boundaries of the Downtown Toms River area; Garden State Parkway East, to Hadley Ave. and the south-side of Route 37, south to the Toms River. Judging begins at 5pm on Wednesday, December 10th and continues for about 2 hours. Criteria used by judges are: Originality= unique design and creative use of lights and decorations, Arrangement= display and placement of decorations, Theme= story line or scene, Overall= overall presentation. 1st place will receive a cash prize of $200 and a yard sign designating your home as the winner of the 2014 “Deck the Homes” Holiday Decorating contest. 2nd place will receive a $100 cash prize and plaque. 3rd place will receive a $50 cash prize and plaque. Cell Phones for Soldiers

Cell Phones for Soldiers are being collected by Nancy Seibert, along with the Berkeley Twp. Regular Republican Club “Support the Troops Project."

They collect any phone in any condition and send them to a recycler for free 60-minute calling cards for our troops serving overseas.
