Sunshine Foundation Family Fun Day and Fishing Tournament

Tuckerton Seaport
Saturday, July 12, 2014

The 17th annual Sunshine Foundation Family Fun Day and Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 12th. The entire family can enjoy this event at the Tuckerton Seaport with lots of fun things for the kids to do, including face painting, balloons, all the hot dogs, hamburgers and pulled pork you can eat, music by Blue Dynamite, a gift raffle and silent auction and of course a walk around the Seaport to enjoy 40 acres of family fun. For those who don’t fish, the entry is $15 and children under 10 years of age are free.

The Captain’s meeting will be held on Friday evening, July 11th at 6pm. The Captain’s meeting and Awards Ceremony will be held at the Tuckerton Seaport. You have the choice of fishing for Fluke or Bluefish or both. The team that weighs in the heaviest two fish in each category will be the winner with an additional prize for the largest single Fluke and Bluefish. Cash prizes totaling $3000 will be awarded to the top three finishers ($800, $400, $200) based on combined weight of the two heaviest summer flounder and the same amounts for the combined weight of the two heaviest bluefish.

Entry fee is only $60 per boat if paid by July 7th or $70 after. This includes a complete buffet for the Captain and 3 crew members, and t-shirt for the Captain.  Also trophies, raffle prizes, a gift and silent auction. A Calcutta will also be available.

The one-day tournament will start at sunrise Saturday with weigh-in starting at 2am and ending at 4pm sharp at the Tuckerton Seaport. The party will start at 3pm on Saturday, but the kids can come early to enjoy the Seaport.

There is also a special Kayak division, sponsored by West Creek Kayak & Canoe.

All funds raised from the tournament go to the Sunshine Foundation to help fulfill the dreams and wishes of terminally ill, chronically ill, physically challenged and abused children. The Southern Ocean Chapter has a local sponsored child. She is Hailey Rose Inserra.
